Hospital operator Health Management Associates Inc. on Monday forecast fourth-quarter and 2011 results that were generally in line with Wall Street's expectations.
The company said it expects earnings from continuing operations of 15 to 16 cents per share in the fourth quarter on revenue of $1.35 billion. For the full year, Health Management Associated said it will earn 64 cents to 65 cents per share, excluding certain unspecified gains, on revenue of $5.11 billion.
Analysts surveyed by FactSet are expecting earnings of 65 cents per share for the year on revenue of $5.14 billion.
In 2011, the company said it expects earnings of 72 cents per share to 76 cents per share from continuing operations and $5.7 billion to $5.9 billion in revenue. Analysts are currently expecting earnings of 74 cents per share and revenue of $5.65 billion.
Shares of Health Management Associates fell 16 cents, or 1.6 percent, to $9.60 in late trading Monday.
