The Jackson Laboratory in Bar Harbor, Maine, known for its genetics research on mice, is about to get a new kind of “lab rat.”

Starting this summer, Boston-based Tufts University students can opt for a track in mammalian genetics that allows them to conduct their Ph.D. research at Jackson Laboratory (JAX), where they can study cancer biology, neurobiology, bioinformatics and other areas side-by-side with established researchers in those fields.
