Health insurer Humana Inc. said Thursday that AmerisourceBergen Corp. will become the primary drug wholesaler for Humana's pharmacy benefits management business.
The agreement between Humana Pharmacy Solutions and AmerisourceBergen takes effect May 1 and will last for five years. Humana said McKesson Corp. is its current drug wholesaler. AmerisourceBergen had handled purchasing of specialty drugs for Humana, and that relationship will continue.
Other terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Shares of Humana, which is based in Louisville, Ky., fell 11 cents to $62.81 in midday trading. Shares of AmerisourceBergen, which is based in Valley Forge, Pa., lost 16 cents to $36.68.
