WASHINGTON, D.C. (Wednesday, March 16, 2011) - The Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) and BIO Ventures for Global Health (BVGH) announced today that Francis Collins, MD, PhD, Director of the National Institutes of Health, will provide the keynote address at the Partnering for Global Health Forum 2011. The conference will be co-located with the BIO International Convention and will be held June 27, 2011 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC.
"Dr. Collins' vast experience and expertise in cutting-edge biomedical research can enlighten industry leaders striving to deliver much-needed innovative solutions to address the health needs of people in developing nations," said Jim Greenwood, president and CEO of BIO.
NIH Director Francis Collins, MD, PhD will share his insights on how ground-breaking biotech innovations can serve the health needs of the world's poorest. Dr. Collins oversees the work of the largest supporter of biomedical research in the world, spanning the spectrum from basic to clinical research. He is a physician-geneticist noted for his landmark discoveries of disease genes and his leadership of the international Human Genome Project.
