Health care services company Cardinal Health Inc. said Monday that Dr. James J. Mongan is resigning from the company's board of directors because of health-related considerations, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Mongan was named to the board of directors in January. He served as president and CEO of Partners HealthCare System Inc. from 2003 until his retirement in December. He was president and CEO of Massachusetts General Hospital, one of the founding members of Partners HealthCare, for six years and was dean of the Missouri School of Medicine from 1988 to 1996.
Shares of Cardinal Health fell 20 cents to close at $41.98.
