Hospital operator Community Health Systems Inc. said Tuesday it will sell two Oklahoma hospitals to Hillcrest HealthCare System, which is part of privately held Ardent Health Services. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Community, which is based in Franklin, Tenn., said it will sell the 180-bed SouthCrest Hospital in Tulsa, Okla., and the 89-bed Claremore Regional Hospital in Claremore, Okla. The deal is expected to close in the third quarter.
Community owns, leases or operates 133 hospitals in 29 states. Last month, it said it had ended an attempt to buy competitor Tenet Healthcare Corp. for more than $4 billion.
Shares of Community climbed more than 3 percent, or 82 cents, to close Tuesday at $25.30, while broader trading indexes rose more than 1 percent.
