Waltham medical device company Lumicell Diagnostics Inc. has raised $2.7 of a planned $3.9 million financing round, according to federal documents.

The company was spawned out of Kodiak Ventures and founded by Kodiak entrepreneur in residence W. David Lee in 2008. The filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission  does not name the four backers in this first institutional round for Lumicell. Listed as related persons are company president Lee, Kodiak’s partner in the deal Andrey Zarur, and CFO William Johnson.
