Officials have announced a new $3.4 million bioscience research facility at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
The 12,000-square-foot facility is being built with state capital funds and money from UIC.
Gov. Pat Quinn and UIC officials announced the facility on Wednesday at the proposed site.
Numerous bioscience companies are in Chicago this week for an annual convention.
Parts of the facility with lab and office space will be open this summer. It's being called HTI for the Health, Technology, Innovation at Chicago Technology Park.
The facility will be located near UIC's Medical School and in the Illinois Medical District, where several hospitals and research facilities are located.
