French drug developer Sanofi-aventis SA is growing its presence in Cambridge, with plans to add 300 jobs and a $65 million expansion investment, according to a report today in The Boston Globe. The company has a research and development facility in Cambridge.
Sanofi-aventis has a global presence in developing vaccines, prescription medicines, generics medicines, consumer health care and animal health care, according to its website.
The Globe article  noted that Sanofi-aventis plans to “establish a joint headquarters for a new cancer division,” and its salaries are expected to pay more than $100,000 per year.
In May, Sanofi-aventis added $500,000 in matching investments  to local, early stage companies as part of a corporate consortium established by the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center. The money will be used to support MLSC’s Accelerator loan program, which provides funding to early stage life sciences companies.
