Quest Diagnostics Inc. said Monday it has completed its $740 million purchase of Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc.'s Athena Diagnostics business.
Athena Diagnostics focuses on diagnostic tests for neurological conditions, including Alzheimer's disease. Quest agreed to buy the Worcester, Mass., company in February. Thermo Fisher said Athena has 300 employees and reported $110 million in revenue in 2010. Quest said Athena will continue to operate under its own name.
Quest is also in the process of buying diagnostics company Celera Corp. The $671 million deal was announced March 18 and is expected to close by the end of April.
