Using infrared imaging technology, the VIP™-200 measures the pupil 30 times per second over a two-second period at scotopic, low mesopic and high mesopic light levels and provides the average pupil diameter and standard deviation with accuracy exceeding 0.1 millimeter. Pupil size measurement during a pre-operative evaluation is crucial for today's refractive surgeons when screening candidates for LASIK, and is particularly helpful for optimizing the premium IOL selection for the patient based upon the patient's stated preferences about the level of vision he or she values most (e.g., distance, intermediate or near), occupation, lifestyle, and frequency of nighttime driving.
