AdvaMed has called for policies that expedite the adoption of health information technology in its newly released white paper, “Health Information Technology: Improving Patient Safety and Quality of Care.” The paper demonstrates how smart, digitally-enabled medical technologies are making dramatic improvements in patient safety, quality of care, and significantly reducing costs. Technologies range from medical records software to devices that remotely monitor patients. However, despite the benefits, formidable obstacles are preventing widespread adoption. To improve patient safety and the quality of care, AdvaMed supports developing incentives that will foster the timely adoption of these technologies.
