Italy-based membrane switch manufacturer, Tastitalia, continues to penetrate the medical device market with new designs using the patented Duraswitch PushGate pushbutton technology. Its latest design win is a portable biofeedback and telemetry system. The handheld units are used by clinicians to evaluate the functional status of muscles and assist in training and rehabilitation.
“Our customer is a leading innovator in high-end hardware and software systems for electromyography (EMG) instrumentation,” said Paolo Accattoli, owner and president, Tastitalia. “This device is designed for the busy clinician who wants accurate and quick measurements. PushGate provides a reliable, crisp tactile feedback, making it well suited for a medical environment where most of the employees wear gloves while doing their work.”
PushGate is a unique pushbutton that employs the simple combination of a metal actuator and a permanent magnet. It provides superior tactile feedback that does not degrade over time or use. Using the natural force of magnetism instead of flexing domes or springs, PushGate is substantially more durable than conventional switch technologies.
