EtherCAN is a CAN-ethernet gateway that converts from CAN into ethernet to overcome the limited physical length of CAN networks. Since CAN technology was originally developed for the automotive industry, it has limitations for high-speed data transmission (1 MBit/sec) at distances of over 50 ft. This problem is solved by EtherCAN, an internet-CAN gateway with a NET +50 ARM processor that controls the data transfer between the CAN and ethernet, allowing multiple networks to be linked over long distances.
