Hamamatsu Photonics introduce a new Photo IC, the S11153-01MT, whose spectral response characteristic closely resembles that of the human eye. The new sensor employs two active elements formed on the same chip, whose outputs are subtracted from each other by the current amplifier circuit. This enables the sensors response to be narrowed to the visible range whilst also reducing colour temperature errors.
The S11153-01MT features a wide operating temperature range of -40 to +100C, significantly wider than the previous version of this sensor. This increases the range of applications that the S11153-01MT can be applied to.
The S11153-01MT also features a lower output-current variation than typical phototransistors, whilst also exhibiting a low output deviation when different colour temperature sources are used. The new Photo IC also has excellent linearity characteristics and is suitable for lead-free reflow soldering.
The S11153-01MT is ideal for a range of light level measurement applications, and is particularly suited as an energy-saving sensor for large TVs and displays as well as automotive illuminance sensors.
